The Knights of St. John International was established in the St. Anthony Parish on November 20, 1983 with Mr.  Francis F. Wisseh as the first president. With the cooperation of the then worthy president, A.A. Roberts of the Sacred Heart Commandery No. 366, Knights of St. John coupled with the blessings of the late spiritual Director, Rev. Francis Hynes, then parish Priest of St. Anthony Parish Gardnersville, Commandery No. 435 was installed and inaugurated.

The objectives of the Knights and Ladies are as follows:
  • Charity – serve humanity and defend the Catholic Church
  • To associate with the Knights and other Christian organizations and affiliate with the international order.
  • To encourage the missions of evangelization.
  • To be examples of Christian Catholic life and to carry our program of service to other people, for example.
Other members included A. Teah Martu, Sam Wleh Togba, Francis Broh, Michael Ofri, Alfred Sudue, Joseph Dahn and Philip S. Bonah Suah, Benedict Kragbe, Sr., Joshua B. Robert, Joseph V.D. Kollie, Matthew Togba, Samuel Wallace and Peter Lawson.

The St. Agatha Ladies Auxiliary No. 365 on April 27, 1984 under the efforts of Mrs. Wisseh along with thirty-three dedicated Christians to defend the Church  and evangelize along with the men (Knights).
